Over $15,000 Raised at Cornerspring’s Annual Tuition Assistance Fundraising Auction
May 27th, 2015
Cornerspring Montessori School would like to thank everyone who attended our recent annual auction in support of our Tuition Assistance Fund. Our scholarship fund insures that an economically diverse community of students exists at Cornerspring. Our Auction Committee planned a wonderful and entertaining evening which began with a delicious Italian meal prepared by Beth Whitten and John Poto, salads by Anne Hallee of Rising up Farms and desserts by Let them Eat Cake and Sweet Henry’s. The bar featured beers from both Marshall Wharf Brewing Co. and Monhegan Brewing Company, as well as a selection of wines from Vinolio. Several Cornerspring alumni and students took on the role of Italian waiters and efficiently served the dinner to more than 80 appreciative guests. Eric Sanders entertained the crowd as he auctioned off over 25 live auction items donated by local businesses, families, staff and Cornerspring classrooms. The event was a great success and raised over $15,000 to help provide support for families to attend Cornerspring’s preschool, kindergarten, elementary and summer camp programs.
We would also like to thank and acknowledge our sponsors who made this wonderful event possible: G O Logic LLC, Patina, Belfast Pediatrics, Vinolio, Tucker Law Group, Ecocor, Belmont Boatworks, Little River Veterinary Hospital, MTA Accounting and Alicia J. As an extension of our apple picking trip and our introduction to community building in the classroom, the children participated in making and enjoying applesauce.Apples were peeled, cut and cooked and then enjoyed together. Delicious!

We invited local fire fighters to our classroom to show the children how a firefighter looks and sounds in all their gear. They discussed fire safety in the home and in school.Afterwards, the children were excited to take turns sitting in one of the emergency vehicles.
October also brought a few birthday walks in our classroom. This beautiful and sometimes tearful tradition is a great way to honor your child’s special day.Parents are invited to the birthday walk celebration and enjoy sharing pictures and stories with the class. It is a fun and special tradition.
Thank-you parents for all the wonderful, creative, and healthy snack choices we enjoy each day.
